Week of 9/30/09 – Punisher Annual #1

There are days when I sit at my desk and ask myself, “When is someone going to tackle ME through a plate glass window?”. There are few things to note here. One, the Punisher is such a bad-ass that the Hood had to resurrect a dozen super criminals to take him down. Two, Letha here is only one half of a female super wrestling team! And three, yes, those are pumpkin bombs, boomerangs, and an Iron Man gauntlet strapped to Frank’s costume.
As some of my other comic reporters have noted the days of the stand alone Annual issue seem to be over at Marvel. This story takes place within the current Punisher story line. It’s even written by the same writer, Rick Remende. The artist is Jason Pearson whom you might recognize as the guy that’s been doing Deadpool covers recently. I really enjoyed his work here, it felt very kinetic and dynamic. No stiff posing, etc. His back library is sparse unless you feel like tracking down a copy of his old series Body Bags.
