From the Longbox – Loki #2

August 22nd, 2009

In 2007 a Thor mini-series called ‘Loki’ hit the stands in four parts. The story by Rob Rodi is largely forgettable. Loki tricks some folks and takes over Asgard while imprisoning his father Odin and half brother Thor. Get this, Thor breaks out and ruins everything. I know.

However, while the image above is a cover shot of issue number 2, every page of the entire series looks just like this. The man responsible is Esad Ribic, a remarkably talented Croatian illustrator who positively lights up every single frame of these four books.

After Loki Ribic did a Sliver Surfer series called Requiem. The story of Requiem was slightly better, it was written by J. Michael Straczynski. Once again, Ribic’s art steals the show.

Right now Amazon says that ‘Loki’ is temporarily sold out. You can score Requiem though.
